I've worked on a bunch of pretty cool marketing/advertising campaigns. The one you're looking at right now is called THIS IS NOT A TEST, which was a massive lead generation campaign for Kaplan Test Prep.
I'll tell you more about it and show you other campaigns I've worked on if you click on these words...
The New York based fashion company Alterre needed to raise money for their new line of shoes. I wrote the script for this video.

Here are a few of my favorite promotions I've worked on.
Pi Day Promotion
This was a very successful and very fun promotion for which I developed the concept and worked on the implementation. To have some fun with Pi Day (3/14), we put together a teaser page for an aggressive monetary offer and coupled this page with an addictive game. The thinking here is that people are more likely to pay attention to the offer and share it with friends if there's something worth sharing (other than a sale). To bolster shareability, we gave users the chance to enter a sweepstakes for $314 if they tweeted that they got to level 40.
INTERACTIVE LANDING PAGE
Sadly, an unused promotional idea meant to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future.
Jumping on the World Cup craze.
ANIMATED BANNER AD
This sale followed a particularly long winter.
Here are some examples of content work I've done:
Funny YouTube videos and for KymNonStop (MTV's Made, TheAmazing Race).
I worked with Kym in the past writing video scripts, ideas, and blog and social posts.
I've done celebrity interviews and reviews for The LA Weekly, ClubPlanet, ThoughtCatalog, and The Rukkus.
I've written blog posts both as myself and a ghostwriter for an assortment of companies since 2010.
The Kat Thek Radio Hour
Really fun project! I worked with an assortment of incredibly talented actors and writers including Andrew Maclarty and Kat Thek to create a totally absurd radio sketch comedy show. Our show is used as a model for future students of the TV/Radio Department at Brooklyn College.
Here are some of my favorite headlines and taglines I've written over the years.
These things didn't seem to fit into the other categories, but they're still pretty cool IMO.
In 2014, I won an international screenwriting competition. Director Joel Schumacher was one of the judges and he had this to say about my script,
"In PHOENIX EMPIRE, Jade Shames shows he has an extraordinary level of daring and imagination. It is a piece of total originality that defies convention or formula. Of all the great new writers this contest introduced me to, Jade is an original voice that must be encouraged."
I encouraged a company I worked for to use this phrase instead of "Unsubscribe" in their emails. People don't like to "Quit" things and the thinking was that email subscribers would be less likely to unsubscribe from an email list if we reframed the act as "Quitting".
The test reduced the unsubscribe rate by 5%, potentially saving hundreds of thousands of leads per year.
Master's of the Universe
I attended The New School in NYC on a creative writing scholarship and received my MFA in 2013.
My bachelor's degree is also in creative writing. I received it in 2008 from The University of Pittsburgh.
